How Does God’s Daily Provision Affect Our Resilience?

Hey Camp Family! My name is Stacy Garrett and I’m a camp registrar.  Today let’s look at how focusing on God’s provision in our lives can help us be resilient people.

Scripture

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”

Matthew 6:25 & 26

Believing the answer to this question (Are you not much more valuable than the birds of the air?)  is easier said than done, right?!  How is it we as a world, as a society and as a community of believers get through times of sickness, times of loneliness and isolation, pressures, and stresses and even life-changing loss?  During normal times, it takes a lot of resilience and grit to get through these hardships, but recently we – worldwide, have been put to the test in these particularly trying areas. Philippians 4:6-7 charges, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

You know, unfortunately, we are guaranteed to have struggles and troubles in our lives. But through God’s grace and provision I personally have learned time and time again when we abide in Him, we recognize how He supplies all we need to live in His righteousness and to be successful in the plan He has for our lives.

Thankfully, God has provided us with the Spirit of Truth. What is that?  The Spirit of Truth or Holy Spirit is our Helper and our Comforter. John 16:13-14,  “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you.”

Charge going forward:

In light of this provision of truth, may we live in resilience and with grit to face these hardships by praying to be His hands and feet – to boldly serve with the skills He has provided and do whatever He asks. To keep our eyes fixed on His everlasting beauty. To take our mouths – giving us the words to tell of His wonders, grace and love, and at the same time, have the wisdom to hold our tongues and listen. To pray each day that by His provision, we can be a part of the work of His Kingdom, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Reflect

  • Have you called upon the Spirit of Truth, today, either by prayer or reading the living Word?
  • Have you given thanks for God’s daily provision?

Camper Corner

  • Ask your parent or grandparent about a trying time in their lives when they experienced God’s remarkable provision.  Was it a pivotal moment in their life and how?
  • Take the time to think about how our Lord Jesus has provided daily for you, because He loves you. Oh, and don’t forget to thank Him!
