Sean points us to truth we can rely on when it comes to keeping the wellspring of life just that\u2026well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Scripture<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"<em>Above all else, guard you heart, for everything you do flows from it.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<cite><em>Proverbs 4:23<\/em><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reflect<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The phrase \u201cguard your heart\u201d is thrown around a lot in our Christian culture, and for good reason \u2013 you can see above that the book of Proverbs describes it as very important.&nbsp; But why is it so important?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Bible paints a picture of the heart as a kind of spring that pours out and influences our lives.&nbsp; You\u2019ve probably seen this in your life when you\u2019ve gotten up on the wrong side of the bed and taken it out on someone who didn\u2019t deserve it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So we\u2019re charged to guard our hearts\u2026but this doesn\u2019t mean we just build a bunch of walls.&nbsp; Instead, it calls us to be wise with the ways it is influenced, knowing that \u2018everything flows from it.\u2019&nbsp; One of the biggest ways our hearts can be affected is through friendships and relationships with the opposite gender, where emotions can be all over the place.&nbsp; How do we guard our hearts in these relationships?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Rely on Truth rather than feelings.<\/strong>&nbsp; Feelings can change so quickly.&nbsp; The happiness felt today might vanish tomorrow for no reason.&nbsp; Sometimes it just might depend on how hungry or tired we are!&nbsp; But Scripture is always the same! &nbsp;And it teaches us that&nbsp;<em>it will go well<\/em>&nbsp;with the person who doesn\u2019t walk in the way of evildoers but who cherishes God\u2019s Word. (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Psalm+1&amp;version=NIV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Psalm 1<\/a>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Take the long view.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong>The truth is,&nbsp;<em>right now&nbsp;<\/em>is probably not all there is to your life.&nbsp; Want to get \u201cin\u201d with a certain group of people, even though you know they\u2019re not doing the right thing?&nbsp; Five or ten years from now, you probably won\u2019t even live in the same town.&nbsp; Are you dating someone?&nbsp; You are either going to marry them, or it\u2019s not going to work out.&nbsp; Keep that in mind\u2026.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Seek Jesus first.<\/strong>&nbsp; This is the most crucial part.&nbsp; Realize that no other relationship can fill the God-designed desire to love Him and be loved by Him.&nbsp; And that\u2019s a good thing!&nbsp; Because He is&nbsp;always&nbsp;faithful,&nbsp;always&nbsp;good, and&nbsp;always&nbsp;where joy is found.&nbsp; Don\u2019t try to find in another person what can only be found in Christ.&nbsp; Trust me, I\u2019ve already done the research on this one.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Camper Corner<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Involve your parents in your relationships\u2026friendships and dating.\u00a0 I know, I know, this sounds\u00a0<em>crazy.<\/em>\u00a0 But the fact is, your parents have a lot more experience, wisdom, and perspective than you, and they care a lot about your heart.\u00a0 Tell them about the things going on in your life.
