That\u2019s ok. Know someone with a story like that? Kelli richly shares how we can love those people well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Scripture<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>He is a father to the\u00a0fatherless; He gives justice to the widows, for He is holy.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<cite><em>Psalm 68:5<\/em><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reflect<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is a common thing these days for a dad not to be \u201cpresent\u201d in a child\u2019s life.&nbsp; Whether it is because of death, neglect or divorce \u2026 there are kids missing an important part of their family.&nbsp; We, as friends, can step in and help in so many simple ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Be willing to ask and listen.<\/strong>\u00a0Don\u2019t avoid the fact that dad isn\u2019t in their life right this moment. They do have a dad and he is a part of their story, good or bad.\u00a0 As you get to know this child, ask them to tell you about their dad.\u00a0 Don\u2019t be afraid to hear what they have to say.\u00a0 It is a part of them they will get to share with you.\u00a0 As they share, they will begin to trust and allow themselves to be known more.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Be willing to fill a void here and there.<\/strong>\u00a0 No one can ever fill the void of dad completely.\u00a0 But, we can help in the way of mentorship and availability.\u00a0 If the dad in your home is taking the kids out or just playing around the house \u2026 invite them to jump in.\u00a0 When you have family night, include them.\u00a0 Share your dad.\u00a0 What a great thing to share!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Be ready to introduce them to the best Father EVER.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0 There is no better father than God who gave us Jesus and the Holy Spirit.\u00a0 While He doesn\u2019t have \u201cskin on\u201d \u2026 He is with us every step of the way and loves bigger than any dad on earth.\u00a0\u00a0 Introduce Jesus to those with an absent Dad.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Often, I feel guilty for what I have \u2026 until I realize I can be glad for what I can share!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Camper Corner<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Who do you know who doesn\u2019t have a dad present in their life?\u00a0 Pray for them.\u00a0 Listen to their story.\u00a0 Invite them to enjoy your family with you.\u00a0\u00a0 You have a lot to share \u2026 get ready to do it!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When asked to talk about our dad we may not all have a fully happy story with no hurt involved.
