Let\u2019s be encouraged by Johnny\u2019s counsel!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Scripture<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201c\u2026and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.\u00a0<sup>16\u00a0<\/sup>All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,\u00a0<sup>17\u00a0<\/sup>so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<cite><em>2 Timothy 3: 15-17<\/em><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reflect<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This responsibility called \u201cparenting\u201d can at times seem overwhelming and intimidating creating thoughts like: \u201cI don\u2019t feel adequate\u201d, \u201cI\u2019m not prepared\u201d, and \u201cI don\u2019t want to mess up.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You\u2019re not alone as \u201cthe only parent on the planet disciplining my child.\u201d There are other families putting in the sweat equity, rolling up their sleeves and doing the hard work requiring consistency, openness, transparency and a whole lot of laughs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just as teams have a playbook identifying their code of conduct, training rules and observances, plays and team expectations, your family needs a&nbsp;<strong><em>playbook<\/em><\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You already have a great start with your family Bible.&nbsp; It might need dusting off or even a search\/rescue dog to find it, but in it you have the winning&nbsp;<strong><em>game plan<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;for your family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A good family playbook identifies the family objectives and fortifies family goals.&nbsp; Your playbook should include an offense (how to advance) and defense (how to protect).&nbsp; You as parents are the Coach, but know that you are not alone, there is the \u201cCoach within. \u201c&nbsp; That\u2019s right, the Holy Spirit, the actual third head of the Triune God.&nbsp; Whoa, now that\u2019s impressive\u2026even a game changer.&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>He<\/strong>&nbsp;is your always-present counselor, power source, and support as your own personal \u201ccoach within.\u201d&nbsp; Incredible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Training is more than exercising.&nbsp; Exercising can be simple.&nbsp; Training is intentional, sacrificial and has a clear picture of success and what it will demand.&nbsp; Training insists on consistency, rejects passivity, and requires your best effort each and every time. Therefore, parents, how would your child describe your parenting \u2026 occasional exercising or absolute missional training?&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There is not room for, \u201cI\u2019m too tired\u201d as a parent. &nbsp;Time is ticking and you have very little of it when it comes to how long your child remains a child.&nbsp; Be fair and reasonable.&nbsp; Make adjustments and spend more time encouraging than harping and\u2026no shaming.&nbsp; Follow through on stated consequences and do not lower the family standard to appease everyone.&nbsp; Keep on extending grace (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John+1%3A16&amp;version=NIV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">John 1:16<\/a>) and seasoning with grace (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Colossians+4%3A6&amp;version=NIV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Colossians 4:6<\/a>), but reinforce character that counts adding up to becoming a MAC \/WOG.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Parents, don\u2019t forget your advantage \u2013 you\u2019ve got the \u201cCoach within.\u201d&nbsp; Keep the lines open with the family, and don\u2019t hesitate to ask for help from Camp, friends and mentors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Camper Corner<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Looking for answers?\u00a0 Looking for direction?\u00a0 Looking for real truth?\u00a0 Take out and dig into your eternal\u00a0<strong>playbook (yo Bible!)<\/strong>\u00a0and make adjustments for your\u00a0<strong>game plan<\/strong>\u00a0to be all that you have been designed to be.\u00a0 You also have the advantage of the \u201cCoach within\u201d to guide and provide you with the resources and motivation to truly \u201cLove God and love others.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Parenting\u2026the rich, hard, get-your-hands-dirty kind of parenting is surely not for the weak at heart.
