{"id":767,"date":"2021-06-29T14:24:05","date_gmt":"2021-06-29T14:24:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gator3012.temp.domains\/~wearebul\/?p=767"},"modified":"2023-06-29T16:12:24","modified_gmt":"2023-06-29T16:12:24","slug":"what-does-healthy-conflict-resolution-look-like","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/gator3012.temp.domains\/~wearebul\/2021\/06\/29\/what-does-healthy-conflict-resolution-look-like\/","title":{"rendered":"What Does Healthy Conflict Resolution Look Like?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mark reminds us of a few helpful, biblical principles about conflict resolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Scripture<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>For our struggle is not against flesh and blood,&nbsp;but against the rulers, against the authorities,&nbsp;against the powers&nbsp;of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.<\/em><\/p>\n<cite>Ephesians 6:12<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Video<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-vimeo wp-block-embed-vimeo\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Kauf - Conflict Resolution\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/511313111?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Transcript<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More than likely each one of us is currently dealing with some degree of interpersonal conflict\u2026 could be within our family, friends, neighbors or even our church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So today, I\u2019d like to remind us of a few helpful, biblical principles about conflict resolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I believe Ephesians 6:12 gives us the preemptive understanding we need to know\u2026 it says \u201cthat our struggle is not against flesh and blood\u201d but rather against evil forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My battle is NOT against my wife, my child, my boss, an employee or quite frankly ANY person as contrary as that might seem, rather a spiritual battle and hence the motivating question that helps me proceed correctly is \u201cdo I want to give the \u2018Forces of Darkness\u2019 some victory points?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If \u201cno\u201d is your answer as well, then let\u2019s follow these divine directives to help prevent that from happening:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>\u201cFirst take the spec out of your own eye\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matt.+7%3A3-5&amp;version=NIV\">Matt. 7:3-5<\/a>) by asking God what your part of the error is and use that as your humble, lead communication piece. More than likely we have some fault in the conflict, and them hearing us confess will certainly soften their heart.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Have your conversation in a private place<\/strong>&nbsp;that will help pride from flaring up. Ideally do it in a timely manner, \u201cbefore the sun goes down\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Ephesians+4%3A26&amp;version=NIV\">Eph. 4:26<\/a>), so even more of your peace isn\u2019t robbed by the Evil one.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=James+1%3A19&amp;version=NIV\">James 1<\/a>&nbsp;instructs us to be \u201cslow to speak and quick to listen\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 show that you care more about them and their feelings or position rather than your own and help restore them by displaying a spirit of gentleness (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Gal.+6%3A1&amp;version=NIV\">Gal. 6:1<\/a>): uninterrupted listening, caring eyes, and a tender tone of voice will turn away wrath.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reflect<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Do you approach conflict with others as a spiritual battle that will either be victorious for God or Satan (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Eph+6%3A12&amp;version=NIV\">Eph 6:12<\/a>)?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify someone you have conflict with and use&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Psalm+139%3A23-24&amp;version=NIV\">Psalm 139:23,24<\/a>&nbsp;as a guide for understanding in your error, what can you admit to them as your error?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ask your spouse or a trusted friend to suggest a demeanor you could display more Christlikeness in during conflict.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Camper Corner<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>After apologizing to someone, have you taken the extra step to ask them if they will forgive you?&nbsp; How did it go?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When you conflict with someone think through what you could possibly ask forgiveness for.&nbsp; This might be really tough, but it\u2019s really worth it!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mark reminds us of a few helpful, biblical principles about conflict resolution.
