Mark points us to the good news about how we can handle conflict in a God (and kinfolk) honoring way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Scripture<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201c\u2026go and be reconciled to them\u2026\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<cite><em>Matt. 5:24b<\/em><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reflect<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Got any hurt feelings and miscommunication with your spouse? Disrespectful or disobedient behavior from your child? Or is your home full of endless bickering and fights between siblings? \u2026Calgon take me away (now that dates me for sure)!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My question to you is&nbsp;not&nbsp;\u201cDo you have any&nbsp;<strong>conflict<\/strong>&nbsp;in your life right now\u201d, rather \u201chow are you going to respond to it\u201d?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We live in a culture where each one of us believes we are (or at least wants to be) the center of the world, and when we don\u2019t get our way we\u2019re ready to battle.&nbsp; Verbal sticks and stones are not the solution.&nbsp; Instead, try some biblical anti-bacterial ointment below for your relational cuts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Determine your goal\/outcome.<\/strong>\u00a0 Win the argument, right!?\u00a0 I\u2019m embarrassed to admit, but most of the time I find myself stewing on how I\u2019m right\u2026 what my list of points are that back up my prosecution of the guilty.\u00a0 I wish someone would have clued me in sooner that trying to win during an interpersonal conflict 99% of the time only prolongs and intensifies it\u00a0 So, before starting the resolution process \u2013 make your goal to\u00a0<strong>resolve<\/strong>\u00a0not to win.\u00a0 Go in with a\u00a0humble ear to listen and hear\u00a0rather than a loaded mouth full of self-defense.\u00a0 \u201cSearch me oh God and know my heart\u2026 and see if there be any hurtful way in me\u201d.\u00a0 Psalm 139:23, 24<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Determine your timing.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Not too soon or too delayed. \u00a0Have the disputers take some time to cool off, to reflect on attitude\/actions and to pray for God\u2019s help.\u00a0 On the flip side, Eph. 4:26 instructs us to \u201cnot let the sun go down on your anger\u201d.\u00a0 Make it standard practice to deal with it the same day.\u00a0 Don\u2019t prolong the inevitable need to work through the issue \u2013 it typically will just lead to prolonged strife, increased dysfunction and sleepless nights.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Determine your source for solutions.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Our world or God?\u00a0 In these times, our culture, at best, suggests that we express the phrase \u201cI\u2019m sorry\u201d to make up for our error.\u00a0 The Lord\u2019s Prayer however models us the appropriate phrase \u201cforgive me\u201d which rightly asks a question and puts the ball in the court of the offended.\u00a0 Uncomfortable and humbling position, yes, but remember our goal is resolution not protecting our pride.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLet all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.&nbsp; And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.\u201d&nbsp; Eph. 4:31, 32.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Camper Corner<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What kinds of emotions do you have when you are in a fight?\u00a0 Do you enjoy arguing with your friends or family?\u00a0 In order to solve problems faster, which one of the suggestions above do you think would be helpful?\u00a0 PlayItOut by being a doer of the Word!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Arguments.
