Scripture<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u201c15\u00a0<\/sup>and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.\u00a016\u00a0<\/sup>All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,\u00a017\u00a0<\/sup>so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n2 Timothy 3:15-17<\/em><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Reflect<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This responsibility called \u201cparenting\u201d can at times seem overwhelming and intimidating creating thoughts like: \u201cI don\u2019t feel adequate,\u201d \u201cI\u2019m not prepared,\u201d and \u201cI don\u2019t want to mess up.\u201d  You\u2019re not alone as \u201cthe only parent on the planet disciplining my child.\u201d There are other families putting in the sweat equity, rolling up their sleeves and doing the hard work requiring consistency, openness, transparency and a whole lot of laughs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just as teams have a playbook identifying their code of conduct, training rules, and plays, your family needs a playbook<\/em><\/strong>.  You already have a great start with your family Bible.  It might need dusting off or even a search and rescue dog to find it, but in it you have the winning game plan<\/em><\/strong> for your family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. A good family playbook identifies the family objectives and fortifies family goals.<\/strong>  Your playbook should include an offense (how to advance) and defense (how to protect).  You, as parents, are the Coach but know that you are not alone, there is the \u201cCoach within. \u201c  That\u2019s right! \u2026the Holy Spirit, the actual third head of the Triune God.  Whoa, now that\u2019s impressive \u2013 even a game changer.  He<\/strong> is your always-present counselor, power source, and support as your own personal \u201cCoach within.\u201d  Incredible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Training is more than exercising.<\/strong>  Training is intentional.  It is sacrificial.  Training also has a precise picture of success and what success demands.  Training insists on consistency, rejects passivity and requires your best effort each and every time. Parents how would your child describe your parenting \u2026 occasional exercising or absolute missional training? <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. There is not room for, \u201cI\u2019m too tired\u201d, as a parent.<\/strong>  Time is ticking and we have very little of it when it comes to how long our child remains a child.  Be fair and reasonable.  Make adjustments and spend more time encouraging than harping. No shaming.  Follow through on stated consequences, and do not lower the family standard to appease everyone.  Keep on extending grace (John 1:16)<\/a> and seasoning with grace (Colossians 4:6)<\/a>, but reinforce character-that-counts adding up to becoming a MAC \/WOG.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Parents, don\u2019t forget your advantage \u2013 you\u2019ve got the Coach Within.  Keep the lines open with the family and don\u2019t hesitate to ask for help from Camp, friends and mentors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
